Music Ministry

Mission Statement for PGCC Choir

To worship and glorify God, our Audience of One, “in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:12 NIV, and by doing so, to lead the congregation into a true worship experience.  Our mission is to do this through corporate singing, Scripture reading and ministering through choral anthems to encourage the Body of Christ and persuade others to understand the love of God and to seek a personal relationship with Him.

Goals

  • To produce a blending of our spirits as well as our voices
  • To enhance our own spiritual growth so we will be worthy worship leaders
  • To grow in our relationships with each other
“God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do next. May our dependably steady and warmly personal God develop maturity in you so that you get along with each other as well as Jesus gets along with us all. Then we'll be a choir—not our voices only, but our very lives singing in harmony in a stunning anthem to the God and Father of our Master Jesus!”  Romans 15:5, 6 - The Message

Rehearsal Schedule

During the singing season choir meets every Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.., in the Choir Conference Room at the Church. Anyone who enjoys singing and wants to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord" is welcome to join us. No auditions are required only a desire to worship the Lord through music and the ability to sing.

Sanctuary Choir is a robed choir of over 40 that sings on most Sundays (excluding summer), and presents special musicals twice a year, usually during the Christmas season and either at Easter or in the late spring.  The choir takes a break between Memorial Day and mid-August.

Chancelaires is a smaller mixed ensemble that meets every other Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. (excluding summer). This group sings periodically on Sunday mornings either in place of the choir or in addition to the choir.  Chancelaires is also the featured group during the Service of Remembrance in December.  In addition, the group also reaches out to our community by singing at various venues outside of the church.

Grace Notes is a ladies’ ensemble that meets alternate Tuesday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. (excluding summer) to pray and sing together.  This group leads worship and sings periodically on Sunday mornings and sings as requested in the community.

Kiltie being loved
Meet Kiltie.  She joined the Simcoe family in May 2004.  She goes everywhere with Sally.  Some folks ask if she sings.  We always say she does the "Rests" very well.  Kiltie has big paws to fill, but is up to the challenge.  Is there any doubt she's loved?  And gives love in return?
Kiltie giving love

Kiltie goes everywhere with Sally, so since the choir has robes, it was only appropriate that Kiltie should have a matching uniform.  Kiltie is the only one that has permission from Pastor Doug to sleep through the sermon. Even when there is a special event, Kiltie dons the appropriate uniform.  Fourth of July with the Chancelaires in her patriotic best.
