Marie Cartwright, Doris Easley, Alice Triggs

Alice Triggs, Doris Easley and Marie
Cartwright arrive in Odessa, Ukraine

Our interpreters were invaluable
to the success of our mission.

There was one for every 4 or 5
people on the mission trip.

The Orphanage

The babies in the orphanages
were so touching.
Most were bundled like
this one for warmth and comfort.

Because there are so
many, they get little
individual attention.

Alice and new friends visit the orphanages.
It brought great joy just to hold the infants.

There are 12 babies in this room. All are sleeping. When
we asked the staff if they all slept at the same time, the
response was that because there are so many, they have
to do everything (eat, sleep, bathe)
at the same time to get it all done.

We thought this was cute how the
children sat so still for the camera.

an orphanage.
Now that's a
load of laundry.

Pre-school children

These pre-schoolers were
rescued from the streets.

Over 43,000 bears were donated by folks
all over the United States.
Each bear came with a note from the donor.
When this woman handed out the bear, she was
surprised that it was one that contained her note.

We gave out bears everywhere we went.
An appreciative young artist thanks
Alice for their gifts.

Boys at the prison camp

The boys at this prison camp were
well behaved. The ranged in age from
10 to 17. They were so receptive of us.

Each boy received a bear.
You can tell by the smiles that
in a place where there is
little positive encouragement
or personal possession,
the bear is a breath of fresh air.

The boys are in such need
of love and care.
It was a tear-jerker
in many cases.

Senior center

We passed out food and clothes from the Josh
McDowell Ministry.

"Drop-ins" at the Senior Center.
Doris makes a new friend.
How they loved us to
give them hugs and
teddy bears.

They would come to see what help they could get.

In addition to the food and clothes we had "friendship"
gifts that we brought over in our suitcases.

Everyone wanted so much to be loved and get hugs.
Everyone heard the Gospel and we told them
about our families and showed pictures of us.

The man in the middle was a converted Jew.
He was giving his testimonial to the gathered  crowd.

Off-duty -  time to tour

Visiting one of the beautiful churches.

After church we had lunch in a home.
The gentleman of the house is a chiropractor.
He gave Marie a back & neck treatment.

Sharing a meal with some new friends.
The food was wonderful. We had taken some food with
us just in case, but never had to touch it.
We left it for others to use.

Walking the streets of Odessa. These women
were working hard to keep things clean.

The building of a new church.

The catacombs where the Russians held off the
German invasion during World War II.
