Early this year, the Josh McDowell Ministry received an invitation for a limited number to return to Cuba. And for six days this past May, 20 saff members and volunteers returned to see how God has used the 1.8 mllion books the ministry has delivered to pastors and home church leaders across the island 2 years ago. And as anticipated, they found that God has taken the generosity of donors, the efforts of participants, and the books that were sent, and He has done a truly phenomenal work across that country.
One of the privileges participants had during their visit was attending a conference for a group of about 500 new Cuban pastors who had traveled from all across the island to attend.
Participants soon found evidence that God's work hadn't stopped with the pastors and Christian brothers and sisters who received the books. They learned that those who received books have been using them to more effectively teach their congregations and impact their communities with the good news of Jesus Christ. And as one attendee at the conference explained, the books have awakened a great interest among many non-believers.
One pastor wrote: "Your books have been a great blessing to my church, my mission, and the people of Cuba. We would like more books for all of Cuba."
